A Funny Feeling

“It hasn’t been a great last 24 hours for us medically,” Hinch 說。¹

Hinch：“He had a funny feeling on the outside of his arm, then he wanted to throw a pitch, and then he punched out the side. So we felt good about the way he ended, but certainly not fun walking out to the mound.”¹

Mize：“I feel pretty good about things, as good as you can.”

Hinch：“Probably the most optimistic news we can get on Casey, that it’s a Grade 1.”³

Mize 的傷痛史：2023 年因 Tommy John 整季報銷，2024 年又一大段 IL，2024 與 2025 兩度左大腿後肌拉傷⁵。2025 年才剛投出 149 局、14 勝、ERA 3.87 的復活季，2026 年開季又中軟組織⁶。

Javier Báez 滑進一壘時右腳踝扭傷，他被擔架抬下場⁷。

Báez 在 2026 年的角色更多功能。去年球季中段他移到CF。3B、SS、OF 三位置，內外野幾乎全能⁸。

“Javy’s is a pretty significant ankle sprain,” Hinch 賽後說，“I don’t know what that means in terms of timeline, other than it’s a minimum of 15 days.”⁹

Hanifee Was Two Days Early

4 月 25 日，Connor Seabold 投球時落地姿勢扭到，左腳踝發炎，4 月 26 日 15-day IL¹⁰。Brenan Hanifee 從 Toledo 上來，他是春訓最後一個被下放的¹¹。

No Backup

牛棚那邊，Hanifee 大聯盟生涯 ERA 2.77，但 2026 年 Toledo 的 whiff rate 只有 16.1%，Tigers 整個 bullpen 的 whiff rate 排聯盟第 25¹¹。

Depth vs. Single Point

24 小時前，Tigers 的問題是深度。沒有 backup 游擊、bullpen whiff 排第 25、先發輪值少一個。這些都是可以管理的問題。名單上下調度，靠 Toledo 撐到 5 月底，等人陸續回來。

24 小時後，Tigers 的問題是 Skubal。

Skubal 完成了 7 局只丟 2 分的內容，43⅓ 局賽季 ERA 來到 2.70¹⁴。第 9 局 Kenley Jansen 被 Olson walk-off，Tigers 輸 3-4。

Tigers賽後沒有公布 MRI 計畫，也沒有調整下次先發的訊號¹⁴。

Hinch 把 Skubal 的左手肘叫做 funny feeling。下一次他走向投手丘，那三個字會不會還是這個意思？

May 6, Dr. ElAttrache’s Table

不是 funny feeling。是 loose body。

5 月 6 日，Skubal 在 Los Angeles 接受 Dr. Neal ElAttrache 的左手肘手術。取出一個 bone chip，沒有其他結構性損傷¹⁶。

Scott Boras 出來定調，把這次手術叫做 “Skubal scope”，說侵入性低、rehab 時程會比一般 arthroscopic 短¹⁷。樂觀派版本是6 月初回歸。一般版本：4 到 6 週。

Hinch：“There isn’t one now, and there can’t be one until he resumes his throwing program.”¹⁶

從 4 月 29 日甩手不適到 5 月 6 日動手術，那七天裡 Hinch 沒有公布 MRI 結果，沒有更新傷勢描述，直到名單異動才證實。Skubal 上 15-day IL 是 5 月 4 日，手術是兩天後¹⁶。

The Cascade

Skubal 不是唯一的新傷。

24 小時的 funny feeling 變成兩週的 cascade。Tigers 5 月 10 日的 IL 有 14 個人²⁰。

戰績開始往下，客場 6-16，全 MLB 最爛（雖然整個美聯中區都不出色）。五連敗在 5 月 10 日晚上被 Gage Workman 的生涯首轟止住，也是穿上Tiger球衣的第一個AB，兩分HR，6-3贏了Royals²¹。

Five Games

5 月 4 日到 9 日，Tigers 輸掉五場：

5/4 在 Comerica 對 Red Sox 4-5，一分球²²

5 月 6 日這場 0-4 被完封的時間，剛好是 Skubal 在 Los Angeles 進手術房的同一天。

完封、被打爆、一分球、walk-off、1-5²⁶。

Flaherty, Montero, and Chaos

把 IL 上的先發投手列一遍：Skubal、Verlander、Mize、Olson、Melton、Jobe。六個²⁷。

Olson 二月動了右肩 labral repair，整季報銷²⁸。Jobe 2025 年 6 月 Tommy John，要到 8 月才可能回來²⁷。這兩位從開季就不在 rotation 裡，是底牌缺角。

5 月中旬 Tigers 的「set」rotation：Jack Flaherty、Keider Montero²⁷。其餘位置用 opener + bulk reliever 拼，從 Toledo 把 Ty Madden 叫上來頂。Madden 大聯盟初登板五局救援 7 K 不失分，有機會會在rotation待一陣子²⁷。

The Free-Agency Math

Skubal 在 2027 球季結束後進入自由市場。今年初市場談的延長合約是 Cy Young 級的數字。

一種讀法是手術反而提高 Skubal 跟 Tigers 簽 short-term 的可能。free agency 上場前剛動過刀，市場會打折，他可能傾向兩三年的 pillow contract，賭一個健康賽季再上市場²⁹。

另一種讀法是 Boras 出手就是估值動作。“Skubal scope” 這個說法把侵入性敘事壓下去，把焦點轉到「他比別人回得快」上面，等到自由市場開窗時，這個 framing 已經鋪了半年¹⁷³⁰。
